Sound 1-10 (1997), a set of ten six-color printed by Andrew Mockler and Martin Mazorra. Each print was printed in a signed and numbered edition of 40 plus 8 artist’s proofs.
In these richly printed images, abstract shapes play off against gestural fields of color. As in his paintings, here the artist uses color to express his interior world. “The strength of colors show more of the inside of my mind,” says the artist , who transforms shapes from the urban landscape into his personalized curved and linear forms. “ When I am out walking, I may see a window, a road, a construction site, architecture, working people, a tree or the sky, and I try to incorporate the feeling of these visual physical things into my work. I then make changes based on intuition and my reactions to the forms and colors present.” The colors vary throughout the series from close values of deep greens and purples to brilliant reds or sky-like blues.
